Hi everyone. Some lovely human dumped these ladies at my school. They have just started laying and have only just been able to walk calmly past me without rushing and squawking. I know they’re females, but I am just curious if they are a certain ‘breed’ or just a mishmash? Thanks! ☺️
Hi everyone. New Polish owner here. Is it a common thing for Polish chooks to purr when they’re happy? None of my other chooks purr and it is honestly the sweetest thing. I’ve attached a link to a video of her purring incase no one has heard it before 😍😍. Link is here: Chicken purring
Hi All. I’d love second opinions re sexing! I keep going 50/50 on what they are! I’m leaning towards rooster for the black one, (massive compared to my other one, starting to have red in the face) but the hair doo is making me think it’s a girl as it’s so circular! 🫠🤪
These are both the same...
Hi All, I have my coop and have decided sand is the best way for my guys in order of keeping it clean. I can't find sand course enough here. I'm in WA Western Australia. These below are my options that I can find so far... Which one would you pick? They all seem too fine or too coarse? Thank you!

Basically. If you watch the video, everybody is kungfu fighting and it’s not alright! Main contender is the Splash Australorp followed by the Silver Laced Wyandotte who is versing the Silkie and then the Pekin Bantam jumps in from time to time. I also have seen my Black...
Hi all. Simple question, Aviary mesh. Did you wrap your coop with it vertically or horizontally? I am doing a predator apron as well and have dug that out ready to go. But what did you all do? Would love pictures too!
Hi everyone. (TLDR; any further aftercare for when an impacted crop has softened?)
I have a four week old Golden Laced Wyandotte who got completely overtaken in growth by her sibling who is now much larger within a week. She is tiny when they both were identical in size, yesterday and today...
Omg. I am beginning to be a top poster, so sorry!
I have now got my lavender Sussex chick (four weeks old) twitching and shaking her head heaps, the motions are left to right super quickly like she’s got a fly on her face and then she stops and resumes it again. I only noticed when I got home...
** edit**
I have been watching her since I posted and ONLY now the Australorp decided to pick at it. So I have separated and she is happy in her makeshift brooder for now. Thank you to all the suggestions!
Hi all my Polish has blood on its head. Long story short.
-saw her shaking her head...
Hi all, I have:
1 Splash Australorp
1 Silkie
1 Lavender Sussex
2 Polish
2 Pekin Bantams
2 Silver laced Wyandottes (starting to think one is a gold laced?)
They all range from 3-4 weeks old.
I have my suspicions on 2 chooks who I think are roosters (for obvious reasons) I’ll post photos for...
