I have chickens from 21 weeks to 18 weeks olds and they all have dry faces. See pictures. I thought it'll go away after they are done molting but not sure if it's getting better. Does heat cause this? Or is this just normal chicken face?
I found tiny (about half inch), fast moving black worm in the sand box today. I searched the forums and someone suggested millipede but I don't think it was that one. It didn't walk. It moved like a snake. It did have sections like millipede but I don't think it had legs and it had pointy tail...
I'm still debating if I should deworm my chickens. Do you deworm your flock regularly just to be sure?
I have 6 young pullets and they have about half acres to roam free, pretty much everyday.
I don't want to stress their system unnecessarily but I also want them protected. They eat anything...
I hope I'm overreacting... One of my pullets have these red scabs on her leg. She also lost some weight. She is molting right now so that might be why but could it be mites attacking her? She's been resting more, but otherwise normal. I didn't see this in others. Should I be worried?
I saw one of these tiny red dot in their feeder yesterday.
I started looking closer around their run this morning and I realized it's not just a couple.
They have 2 feeders, one is plastic container and I didn't see anything in the feeder but these things are outside of the plastic feeder. The...
She's been panting like a puppy on a hot day. It's been very hot during the day. She seems to be having a harder time cooling off than the rest. I took her inside to cool off. It's been an hour and she's still panting, not constant though.
I noticed her poop is softer than usual. I also...
These reddish little things are all over my compost bed. My chickies went crazy looking for these and ate a lot of these. Any guesses as to these are? It's not baby red worms for sure. It doesn't move. Some sort of bug eggs?

Is this normal or something wrong with it? I thought another chick pecked her nose, but they seem to be getting along so I'm not sure. Or is bedding irritating her nose?
Hello
I have one baby chick that is almost a week old (RIR), 2 chicks that are almost 2 weeks old, and 3 that are almost 5 weeks old.
When RIR was just one day old I placed her with two other then 1 week old babies. RIR pecks at two other babies' nose and eyes really aggressively. I thought...
Sorry for the blurry images. He's always moving. I think it's a boy because his tail feathers didn't start until the third week.
Also because he is always the first one to be on the next tallest places. I don't have another breed with rose comb to compare. What do you think? Is this baby boy or...
