Other than from local breeders of course. This question has been bugging me for a while. Are you guys allowed to purchase chicks from other countries? Do you have hatcheries that you purchase from? Do agricultural supply stores carry them?
Cleaned the coop out today after forgetting to do it for 3 months. I made sure I had on gloves and such but I forgot to wear a mask, and so now I'm scared that I'll get histoplasmosis! Seems kind of unlikely due to the chicken coop being cool and the litter very dry, and not having any dirt in...
I have a bald frizzle and I heard that people have had success with supporting feather growth by mixing game bird feed with chicken feed to support feather growth. I was wondering if instead of buying two different bags I could just buy a bag of mixed flock feed
The dosing on Safeguard goat dewormer is 1/4th cc or 0.25 ml per lb. when given orally to chickens, right? And what is the egg withdrawal period for this method?
I noticed that my new chicken has mites, and I’m wondering if I should either A. bathe her in flea shampoo and then dust her and her coop/run with DE or B. get something stronger like poultry dust.
Just picked up this frizzle yesterday. She seemed a little too subdued even for a new chicken so I picked her up and found that her nostrils were crusty. There is no smell, and she seems to be eating. She’s also isolated from the other chickens. Any advice?
I'm designing a coop frame that is 4 1/2 L x 4 W x 4 H at the highest using 2x3s. I was wondering if I really need all this support? the cost is getting kind of up there.
Hello, I'm currently in the process of designing a coop in google sketchup and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to put the ventilation. Coop area is about 4x2x3. squares are where the doors will go and bottom part is storage.
I'm using a 100 watt basking spot bulb, and I'm wondering if I need to heat the brooder for a full 24 hours before adding chicks or if I just need to get the temp to a consistent 95?
I was thinking about ordering a few chicks from a hatchery, but I realized that most of them require you to pick up at the post office. With the virus going on, however, I'm not sure how safe that is. So my question for those who are ordering/have ordered chicks this spring, how is your post...
Didn't know where else to post this.

I know that hens are allowed and you can't keep roosters, but is there any limit to the amount of hens you can have? How far away does the coop have to be from neighboring buildings? Is there a minimum size requirement for the coop, and will I have to get any zoning permits (I plan to build this...
