I recently aquired a GQF Sportsman hatcher to go along with my Sportsman Incubator.
It has six hatching trays and holds temp and humidity perfectly.
After my first hatch I am very happy with it, with one exception.
There is to much space between the front and rear of the trays and the...
Our Wheaten/Blue Wheaten/Splash Blue Wheaten Ameraucana’s are from Wayne Meredith’s line. Our breeders were selected to meet the Breed Standard.
We have one BW Rooster over two BW Hens and one SW Hen. They have been producing some very nice chicks.
They lay medium to large eggs with nice color...

We have one BW Rooster over two BW Hens and one SW Hen. They have been producing some very nice chicks. It might just be luck, but of all the chicks...
Yesterday was a bad day for us. Haven taken what I thought was proper precautions to give our birds relief from the heat,(the same as years past) I came home to three dead BC Marans hens, a BCM and BW Ameracuna Roo in serious trouble. I quickly started running cold water under the wings of the...
I started a new batch of eggs on Wednesday 5/11/11.
I did not realize until Saturday morning that the arm on the turner motor had popped off and the turner was not turning.
Can I still expect a normal hatch?
These were shipped eggs by the way.
I just hatched some W/BW Ameraucana chicks. The last one to hatch has curled toes but otherwise looks good.
It is eating and drinking well, but can not walk correctly. This chick hatched yesterday.
Can I splint them straight and maybe correct this issue?
The motor failed on my old Little Gaint turner today on day two. I will not be able to have another one until tommorrow. Instead of opening the bator to turn the eggs today and tommorrow can I just elevate one side then elevate the other side? I run it almost dry so there would be no issue with...
Although my last hatch was successful I got my first pip on day 19 and most of my hatch on day 20. My temp is running at 100.5 and I would like to go down 100 or even 99.5.
The instructions provided with the bator are a little confusing. The thermostat is set on #4 do I just turn on #3 and turn...
I am just about finished with my first run using Bill Worrell's incubation method. I am now a new convert, never going back.Today is the 21st day and of the 25 eggs that went into lockdown I had 20 chicks hatch last night with 3 pipping and 2 rocking when I left for work this morning!
I started...
I have a new 1602 Hovabator that I have added a fan. I cannot get the temp regulated. With or without the fan it will fluctuate between 97.5 and 101.5.
It is in a room with stable 70 degree temp. I have had three different themostats on it. All the same results. If I set it to kick off at 100 it...
After having a flock of laying hens for years, I decided to add a small flock of game chickens (aquired from a friend as chicks) They are currently five months old and I free range them.
My problem is they are roosting in trees at night and not the coop. They seem none the worst for wear, and I...
