Hi all. So our chicken coop and run is on a slope, we thought we did a good job getting it flattened out but unfortunately not. We have sand in our coop & with it being sloped it's coming out the front door constantly. It's also causing bald spots in the back. We have hardware cloth on the...
I have 4 fully featured chicks that are 4 weeks old. 2 cream legbars & 2 olive eggers. They're currently in my garage with a heat source but I want them out lol. I've got 8, 13 week old pullets in the coop already. Our lows where we live are 68-70 at night and it's about 80-85 during the day...
We have a finished coop and run with the chicks happily out in it now! But I'm wondering where/how to store all the food and chicken supplies? My thought was the garage, but it's a bit of a hike for us. Thanks for sharing what you do!
Just finished the run today and put in our coop. I know we need to level out the dirt in the front since it's on a slope, add a tarp or something to the back, any other recommendations?
Also, we have 8 chicks right now. 3 are suspected roosters. Should 11 chickens fit in here? 8x10x6 run, coop...
I have 8 chickens, 3 are 7 weeks, and 5 other chicks that are 5.5 weeks old. My husband just finished the coop/run as we speak and we were hoping to put them in tonight! We got a random chilly evening with a 57 degree low. Should I wait, or is it ok? 57 is the low another night next week...
1 buff Orpington at 5 weeks & 1 Smokey pearl at 7 weeks. Are they both Roos? The red coming through is what is most suspicious to me, as some of the other chicks have slight combs but they're yellow. And these two are the only two with red on their wattle. Thanks!
Howdy! 5 week old chicks below.
First photo: are these both buff Orpingtons or is one an Americana/EE?
Second photo:closeup of chick on the right
Third photo: closeup of the chick on the left
Left chick is somewhat darker, and has its "reds" coming in.
Both BO's? Or is one an EE? And is...
First time chick owner. We have 8, 1 suspected roo, going out to the coop in about 2 weeks. Our coop says it fits 10-12 chickens and our run is an 8' x 10'. Should I get 3 more chicks?!?! Or do I need to relax and see how this first year goes.. thanks!
We have 8 chicks, 3 of them are almost 5 weeks and the rest are 3 weeks today. Breeds and observations below. We handle them at least 2 times a day but go up to them frequently to check in. Thoughts?
Whit leghorn: brooder greeter, easy to handle, but pecks and me and my kids somewhat...
I integrated our two brooders a week ago, we have 3 that are 3 weeks old & 5 that are 1 week old. They seemed to gel together pretty quick with only one of the older gals picking on the littles from time to time. But today the big girls have had their feathers ruffled almost all day and are...
Trying back on this again. This is supposed to be a 3 week old pullet, white leghorn. I'll share, she's very pecky to everyone, doesn't seem like one of the girls, but she is the first one to greet me always, and will also not stay in the brooder anytime I lift the top. Please note the picture...
White leghorn chick or Cornish x? She is supposed to be a white leghorn but is bigger/taller than the other two chicks purchased same day. Shes also very calm and keeps to herself. Any ideas are appreciated! I'm also nervous she's a he.
