I'm juuuuust bout done with my new 10x10 walk in coop. Right now, I have t1-11 siding, which has a weird OSB texture on the back) that I've lime washed, but I'm starting to wonder if some heavy duty peel and stick wallpaper might make it easier to clean.
I'm not too worried about it staying...
Went to let my birds out the other day, and I found a tiny, filthy, terrified kitten in the chicken coop. It was terrified and super spicy, so I put on my welding gloves to pick it up. I put it in a cat carrier with some water. I spent a couple hours searching for a mama or other wayward babies...
Howdy. I promised I searched for an existing answer first.
I am almost done with the new coop for my chickens and ducks. We've had issues with flooding, so it's raised up off the ground, meaning my ducks will have to use a ramp.
My question is: What works well for grips? Right now, I have a...
10x10 coop. I know to put ventilation above their noggins when roosting. I know how much ventilation I need.
What I need is to know where on the walls I should put the windows.
I'm trying to avoid reframing for the windows, which means I gotta put them between the studs. Super limiting, I...
Hi.
I am building a new coop. I have linoleum remnants a neighbor gave me. I don't want to glue it down on the off chance I need to take it out at some point.
So how should I keep it down? It's a raised coop with a 3/4 in plywood foundation.
Thanks!
I have a single BBW poult who is about a month old. I had her DNA sexed as a hen. I want the get her a buddy.
I found a gal who has 2 month old poults that are heritage breeds, so I should be ok if I end up with a male, right?
Not at all experienced With turkeys, so any advice is appreciated!
I am in the process of building a new coop. Yay, me!
Here's my Inspo pic. I just snagged it off the internet (credit to the owner) because this is 8' x 8' like my new coop and it fits my needs... almost.
I have 2 isolation pens that I plan to put under the poop boards. The problem is that then...
In my 20 years of chicken keeping, I have never had this happen.
I integrate adult chickens all the time. I ended up with a cute little Sussex named Pebbles from a friend whose whole flock except for Pebbles got killed by a bobcat. I did a quarantine for a month and kept her in an isolation...
Man - it's been a tough couple of days on the farm....
I'm completely new to turkeys. My little TSC rescued poult (injured and lethargic BBW, about a week old - all healed and perky now) is sneezing occasionally. There's also intermittent clicking/crackling when it breathes but no discharge so...
I had a Wyandotte on 5 babies. This morning, I went out to check on them and clean their area (they're in an isolation pen in the big coop), and one of the babies had gotten its foot caught in mama's feathers, and in the panic, the poor thing lost its little leg and died. The leg was still in...
I went to TSC today to get feed, and the manager said they had an injured poult that they couldn't find anyone to take. I guess the other poults pecked its little wing pretty badly. It's missing it's feathers and some skin. They said I should take it because I sometimes take the sick or injured...
