I have 4 three week ducklings and 2 one week old ducklings. The older ones are attacking the younger ones so I have them in separate brooders. Am I going to be able to put them together at some point when they're ready for the coop? How do I get them use to each other?
I have ducklings that are 3 weeks old and chickens thay are 3 months (ish).
My plan has always been to put the female ducks in the coop/run with the chickens.
They currently free range "together" all day until the ducks go back into the brooder in the evening. But they dont have anything to do...
I have 16 chickens total that are all 11 weeks. I have 1 polish chicken. They've been in the coop for weeks and free range during the day. Every single one of them goes in the coop at night, on their own EXCEPT the polish chicken. I also have to help her up to roost. Is this breed just not very...
I have chickens that are a few months old and I just picked up some ducklings. What do I need to know?
Chickens are in the coop, ducks are in the brooder currently. I'm hoping they can live together once they're coop-ready? (Will be rehoming any drakes)
Food-wise, I'm seeing a lot of...
In the process of building a larger run, roofing materials are just not in the budget right now. Can I get by with just hardware cloth for the roof to protect from aerial predators? At least for a year or so until we can add roof panels?
We get rain and snow but not astronomical amounts. Our...
I'm making plans for my chicken run. Do I need to use pressure treated wood other than the pieces that come in contact with the ground?
What about the trusses that go under the metal roofing?
We get an average of 8 inches of rainfall per year and total of 13 in snowfall.
If you have pictures...
I found some 1/4 inch 19 gauge hardware cloth on sale, is that going to be sufficient for my run?
I'm seeing 1/2 inch is sufficient but the 1/4 inch is actually cheaper on sale. I'm not sure what the gauge needs to be though.
This is my 9ish week old chick (feed store said she's an amerucana, not sure) my kiddo noticed about 4 days ago that she's been a little reserved. She is kind of puffed up looking with her head kinda tucked into her shoulder area. But if I walk over to her she pokes her head up and acts somewhat...
I noticed this pink bump on my chicks toe on April 30th. After getting some advice from other chicken owners, yesterday (May 4th), I soaked it in epsom salt then lanced it. I tried to squeeze out any gunk but nothing came out aside from a little blood, it felt hard. I put some antibiotic...
