Anyone have experience with ChipDrop? Just wondering what to expect as we signed up for a load of chips with some logs and stated cannot take "cedar" as this is for the chickens.
We process and sell firewood here so I was also curious about the log drops.
We have a typical tuxedo black and white cat and another fully black cat. The Tux cat is 8 years old. He has always had some type of allergy that resulted in scratching, sneezing, overgrooming, etc. He tends to pick at the bottom of his feet and has since licked all the hair off his lower belly...
First winter with chickens so I do not know what to expect but our run smells so bad in the morning, worse than our bathroom on Taco Tuesdays. It is wrapped with 14mil tarp but exit door is not and it has 8" of opening along the overhang for ventilation. Floor is sand that is about 3 months old...
First I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for being so helpful. There is a vast amount of information here and it's just a wonderful thing to have at our exposal. But like most of your setups, ours is a little different from the norm and we need some input from those with experience.
This...
We first found out that almost all the birds have bumblefoot which we have yet to treat. Then the birds started having the runs which smelled really bad so we treated them with Ampromed for two weeks till that cleared up. Yesterday evening one bird was motionless in the corner of the fence and I...
So we are having the basement floor done with 16" waterproof Vinyl. After that is completed we would like to enclose the corner of the basement to be used as a pantry. Just two walls, two doors, and exterior drywall. Nothing fancy. The problem is there is no way to get a pre-built wall into that...
My wife was picking up some of the birds (we have 16) and I noticed most of them had a black scab or two on their feet. No redness, no limping. Research says this is the start of bumblefoot and we are trying to figure out how to tackle this.
How do you guys manage a large qty of birds with...
So I am guessing this was a mistake but I made an egg sandwich for the wife yesterday. Basic egg omelet wrapped up with a slice of cheese on top. She did not get home in time to eat it so she put it in the fridge. I ended up tossing it to the chickens since she did not have an appetite for it...
Something unusual happened today. I let the chickens out at 6 this morning to free roam in the 3 runs we have connected together. Our 16 chickens usually lay all morning and done by noon. We have one fake egg in each of the 6 nesting boxes. I went out there at 9am and there was an egg in the 3rd...
We moved onto this property last June and everything has been peachy and then decided to get 16 chickens and have them live in what used to be the goat house. We had no where to raise them except the spare bedroom at the time, which was a massive mistake, but during that experience we had...
So we purchased a bunch of chicks on impulse during first week of March. It was pretty cold out at the time and we decided to raise them indoor in our spare room since the garage is not heated and coop was not ready. Boy was that a mistake. :th
Every week it got worse....and worse...and worse...
Hi There! We purchased a home that had pet goats roaming in a fenced area. For housing, they used an amish built goat house with concrete pad. I believe it is 11x7 with coregulated roofing panels and walls are a mixture of 2x6's, plywood, and the same roofing panels for appearance purposes...
Hi my wife and I got 16 birds to raise for eggs. I thought I'd join this informative forum and soak in what I can to make our experience as rewarding as it can be.
Thanks!
