Hey BYC friends! 👋
I work at Bomgaars (yep, the farm & hardware store) and thought it’d be fun to make a thread about all the chaos, laughs, and chicken expertise I get to share at work.
A little about me:

WELCOME TO THE CHAOTIC CHICKEN SKETCH THREAD 🐓🎨
I just got a new sketchbook and it’s hungry. It wants ALL THE CHICKENS.
Every single bird you love, fear, or are mildly obsessed with — I will attempt to put them on paper in my chaotic glory.

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice.
I have a flock of 13 hens with 1 rooster (Jack). He’s a good rooster overall, but I’ve noticed some of my hens are starting to look a bit over-mated. I suspect he may be too rough or is favoring certain hens. I am planning to increase the flock in...

The overall plumage looks weaker and...

Hi everyone! I’ve been candling my eggs and I’m trying to figure out which ones are viable. I’ve taken some photos and would really appreciate any advice or insights from experienced hatchers.

Which eggs look like they’re developing normally
Which...
so i was doing some research about what happens when buff is crossed with gold laced and it usually looks like this will my 2 birds produce similar results. please let me know how close or far off i am.
the first 3 photos are of crosses i found from facebook.
and the other 2 are my birds
so ive noticed my wyandotte rooster starting to look pretty rough and i think he might be picking his feathers out of bordom because we used to have 23 hens and he was not missing feather and looked great but when we lost 10 he started to look rough and im not sure what to do.
so this could go good or bad not sure i dont have a proper incubator but i thought it would be fun to try and hatch some eggs now im not entirely sure what these chicks will be since its fall and im not sure who is and is not laying.
but these are the possible crosses i could have im not sure...
