The first snow fell in southern Maine yesterday and when I went to close the coop up, all four girls were sleeping on the roost in the run. I figured it was due to confusion, having never seen snow before, having part of the run wrapped in tarp, etc. I put all four sleeping beauties in the coop...
The bantam boys have found a new home on a local farm, it’s not the first or the second one that I was in touch with, but at least two of them- one at 17 weeks is a “little” (🤣) aggressive- and the farmer said she may pass him on to a woman she know who will take her extras. Luckily, for them...
I was sure I knew who was who, but this chicken is starting to look like a boy as it approaches 12 weeks. Any ideas?
I’m asking about the mostly dark gray bird. It’s situated near a Rock pullet and an EE cockerel in two of the pictures.
Thanks to all the great advice here, including advice about how to dispatch of the cockerels. I found someone to pick up the three birds.
Thank you community!! I hope in the future I’m able to be helpful to others in need.

I have two Bantam Barred Rock Roos.
Also, the chicks I have were called Plymouth Barred Rock at the hatchery where...
My Bantam chicks are six weeks old. The Barred Rock chicks are pretty easy to sex. Of the four EEs I’m leaning toward pullets.
What do others think? I’ll also try to get some better pictures on another day.
Hi! I’m a new chicken keeper and enjoy the blog. I’ve learn a lot. Thanks for welcoming me here.
My small flock are 4 EE and 3 Barred Rock Bantams who are 6 weeks old. Thanks to a lot of what I’ve learned here, I’m fairly certain that two of the Barred are cockerels (pictured here). The EEs...
