I have barred rocks and buff orp. When one does her broody thing, I d like it to be w the orps but I don't know which eggs are which. There seem to be light ones and a bit darker ones.
With an entrance hole so chickens could fly
Up there, but predators couldn't climb up the metal. ? I thot I saw this idea but can't find it now. Any thots?
Has anyone tried putting metal on the outside coop wall with an entrance the hens could fly up to? Predators couldn't climb the metal ?
Would owls go in?
My Light brahmas weigh 4 1/2 pounds. Does this seem in the ballpark for 16 weeks? They have fermented feed as much as they want and free range about 4 hours 5 days a week.
If I put the boys in a separate pen where they can't see the girls will some of the aggressiveness among the boys back off. They all grew up together and are about 12 weeks old. Brahms lights

on fermented feed, which was a totally new concept to me, works great. Coops, taking...
Guess that pretty much is my question. We are wanting to do some meat chickens, again. Last time it was
cornish x and we were happy with them. We re not really white meat aficianados, so are thinking of trying something else.
And fast growing is not an issue.. thankyou for any and all input.
