Most of the coops you find at the feed store are made of cheap thin wood and won't last. I did get one from OVER E_Z. It is well made and should last. You can get this in different sizes.
I have my first Welsummer hen and she just began to lay yesterday. She is beautiful but her egg is not as dark as I thought it would be. Will the eggs get darker as they get larger. I have a RI Red that is the same age and lays a much darker brown egg. I have the eggs pictured. The darker is my...
I looked up Lash egg and saw some pictures and that is exactly what it looked like Guess this is the end of her good eggs. Thanks for your quick response. I have a few older girls that are not laying well. Wish I had bought a few more chicks this spring. I bought 9 and two were roosters. Got rid...
I have a red star older hen who a while back started laying soft shell/thin shell/no shell eggs for a while and then went into s slight molt and quit laying for a short while. This morning she laid a no shell egg along with a hard cream colored mass about 2 inches. Looked like a petrified...

THANKS EVERYONE! You don't know how happy this makes me. I though I was going to have to wait another year for a Welsummer. I still have 3 new Americana's and that is all I really need with my 3 older Americana hens. Can you believe that out of 3 Americana Pullets purchased at Rural King, 2 were...
Thanks, All of my other Americana's have the dark legs. Some of my Americana's have the tufts on the cheeks and some don't. When I noticed those legs today I began to wonder if I got these chicks mixed up and the one I though was a Welsummer was on of the Americana's and this is the Welsummer.
A while back I posted pictures of what I bought as a Welsummer hen and not only was he not a hen but he is not a Welsummer. I am now wondering if I got confused. Could the attached pictures be my Welsummer hen? I thought she was one of the Americana
s I purchased but she has yellow legs.
I bought it as a Welsummer pullet. One of my American pullets ended up being a cockerel which is par for the course. Seems like no matter how many Americana's I get, one is a cockerel. This time it was 1 out of 5. So in my spring batch I have two cockerels and I wanted none.
