I have the same problem,my easteregger rooster is huge at 6months and he keeps mating with my elderly bantam cochen. I separated him yesterday. I only have 4 hens and he always goes for the small one.I live in town and am only allowed 4 hens. I hatched the rooster by accident.
I need to rehome a friendly 15 week old EE who is too friendly and twice the size of Mt beloved bantam cochin. Prefer someone in Western Pa.He is bigger than this now.
Your coop is really cute but I live in a small Boro and we still have raccoons and hawks. I used hardware cloth. I love your decorations and the little cottage look.
Yes,there are 2 pullets and an adult Rhode Island red hen but he only tries to mount the elderly bantam cochin . I have separated him but leave the 2 young pullets who were raised with him for company. I can't cull him but wished I knew someone who would give him a good home.
My elderly bantam cochin hatched 3 Easter Eggers from a different hen. They are now 15 weeks and one is a cockerel who keeps trying to breed with his 9 year old adoptive mom. I have sectioned off the coop to separate them and only allow supervised visits when they free range and I am sitting...
Just letting you folks know my big black easter egger crowed this morning. I quess we were right he is a Cockerel. We only have 5 chickens, the bantam who raised him,( Pee Wee) a Rode Island red hen(Pixie) and the cockerel and his 2 siblings. Do I need to separate him and will he get aggressive...
I think so but I live in town and roosters are not permitted. I KNOW a lady who has all hens and wants a rooster for breeding. I am attached to them as pets but if I have to I will give him up.
My 9 year old broody hen is still fussing over her 3 chicks who are now 13 weeks old. They climb all over her and she still calls them into bed at night. She is a bantam Cochin and they are quite large EEs bigger than her. Is this common?
