Hi,
I have a lovely bantam naked neck frizzle named Monique, which is just over a year old. A few months ago we started losing her feathers, primarily around her bum, tummy, chest, and most notable, her wings. We think she’s molting, although she’s younger than the typical molting chicken. Also...
One of my very first birds was a cream Brabanter. I absolutely loved him. He was flighty, but protected our hens. We lost him to a coyote and it broke by heart. I’ve been on the hunt for a brabanter pullet for years now, but they are hard to come by!
oh how exciting!!!! She’s about 14 weeks so I’m patiently waiting for her to lay! Most of my other chickens are either feather footed or have black legs so I guess I just never noticed it before.
Hey, I’m noticing these red spots in my pullets legs. Does this look familiar to any one?
I have 17 chickens, and from what I can tell, she’s the only one with it.
Back again. In April i got day old chicks. There were sexed female.... but I have one Orpington that I’m questioning. They are 11.5 weeks. Pics are two- one I think is a pullet and the other I’m questioning- thoughts?
Hi,
Just got four new chickens- can you help me determine the breed/sex of them?
1. Buff/white- I think she’s a hen, but we have no idea what breed. Any ideas? She’s about 6 weeks but tiny. She’s some type of bantam. ** Update** she’s a buff mottled barbu d’anvers. Took a lot of googling but...
Hi all,
I have 9 7-week old pullets, 5 bantams, and 2 standard (all hens).
Currently, the pullets are separated from the other 7 chickens, but they are in the same coop. (See picture). They can squeeze under their fencing join the big chickens at their leisure, but the big chickens can’t get...
I originally thought maybe she had something sticky get stuck in her feather or something since it almost looked like she was fixated on something near her stomach. I have a good look and didn’t see anything. It could certainly be the unfamiliarity, since it seems to be change related. We...
Hi, I’ve had chickens for a while, but recently decided to raise chicks. They are now 6 weeks, but something seems strange with our blue production. I transfer her out of the brooder (along with all the chicks) and she started to freak out (erratic behavior). She buried her head in her feathers...
