Comment by 'MuddyHillFarm' in item 'Side mounted, Spring-loaded Chicken/Small Animal Water Drinker - 10 Pack'

There is an updated design that makes for a better experience. The shape has been modified so NO tool is required to install ( or small hands to grip while screwing it into place) and the drip tray has been increased in size to allow more water to be available per sip by the bird...

Savannah, GA Looking for French White Drake

I would like to increase the DNA pool in my flock. Would consider purchase but prefer a trade. Must be a large or extra large in order to compete with my existing drake. Have a couple of drakes that are 10 weeks and nearly ready for harvest (7/28) and a few more that are a few weeks younger...

    Feeding while you're away

We have developed a system and have it down to a few steps. First we use the MuddyHillFarm feeder and know about how many days of feed a full feeder will last. The second is water. We use the MuddyHillFarm horizontal nipple WITH the CoolerAdapter installed in old insulated coolers. Water temps...

High of 109 today.... ice water

We have used old coolers and converted them into drinkers. Easy to toss ice into them to keep the water colder longer: http://muddyhillfarm.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15&products_id=12

    Can chickens eat safflower seeds?

We planted several rows of sunflowers next to the coop. The girls get a lot of exercise jumping up to get at the pedals and the nuts. Talk about very funny to watch! Highly suggest planting some and NOT paying for them at the store.

    MARYLAND THREAD!

I think I have posted about feed b4: A neighbor and I split a ton of whole grains about 2-3x's a year. We each have milling equipment (bought from Premier) and I grind my own every few days. Whole grains will keep much longer then milled/cracked grains - they go rancid. I go and get the...

Is this guy sneezing or what? Please watch short video.

Thank you so much, Eggcessive. He has been in our isolation crate for almost a month now. He seems to be feeling much better but with the continuing sneezing I think we are going to cull him. He is a gentle fellow, but we have been disappointed with him as a sire.

Is this guy sneezing or what? Please watch short video.

My Wheaten Ameraucana roo has been sick with a respiratory condition. He had really rattly lungs and was acting quite peaked. After two antibiotics, he seems MUCH better (Denagard did the trick), but he still is making this weird noise. To me, it sounds like a sneeze, so I hesitate to reunite...

My wife laughed when she first saw my milling operation. We buy certified organic whole grains and grind as necessary. I toss them into the hopper to be ground to the size i want (I have a couple of different size screens - peeps get a finer grind then the big girls), ground grains drop into...
