    We started our chicks on a vitamin mixed with the water from day one. I think they are much healthier as a result. The stuff is called Daily 72. They won't be on it long term but I figured with chicks why take a chance.

    The wife found me a set of coach candle lamps for outside the front of the coop (Pullman Railroad Lamps). I will most likely electrify them.

    The exterior of the coop is just about done. I still have a few small things to finish inside however. Then I will be turning my attention toward finishing a run.

    We ended up getting 3 Barred Plymouth Rocks 3 Americana Standard 3 Rhode Island Reds 3 Golden Buff 3 Lakenvelder And 3? the hatchery threw in Hopefully sexed, all females is what we wanted, but we will see how that works out...

    If you get a small tear in one of the bails and leave it outside where the water can get to it, the shavings expand, and the bale kinda explodes outward, tearing the rest of the plastic off, and making a real mess. Don't ask me how I know this............nosirrebob.......

    This is really a "no brainer" Give him the "rulz" and tell him this is "not" choice. If you don't follow my "rulz" you and the dog can hit the road. Then follow through with your promise. Sounds to me like things will get back to normal real quick since brother can't or won't follow "rulz"...

    Getting closer

    We're in the same predicament, new coop, no chickens. In our case I called a hatchery located in our home state and placed an order for a mix of day old brown layers that we will pick up next Tuesday after the hatch. Check Google for a hatchery in your area.

    Nicw start! My suggestion is to see if you can put rebar inside the PVC for the base. It will prevent the base from bowing and help weight it all down.
