I am sorry the havahart didn't work for you. Between a dog and the havahart, my dad has had good luck.
I would be seriously worried that an animal you don't want to catch, like a pet or a child, would be caught in that trap you have though.
The nematodes suggestion was a good one. My stepmom is chemically sensitive and raises organic chickens. They use only nematodes and it drastically reduced their flea problem.

We had a similar situation. We live in the city limits and we don't have the room right now to raise meaties. We had one EE roo that was pretty fun until adolescence hit and we told our kids that he was getting too mean and mean roosters are eaten.
However, we chose to give the roo to someone...
I recently cooked a pekin and it was delicious. I read that Muscovys can have a stronger taste. Is this true? The Pekin was so good I almost don't want to try anything else.
I also think it depends on the breed. When I was young, my pet mutt chick was very friendly from the get-go. My hamburgs take MONTHS to come around. They are like down-covered popcorn whenever I come to clean the cage.
Hey, I placed!!! Good thing since it is the only chicken we have (not counting her 2 chicks I just hatched.) Congrats to the winners! (The rosecomb is gorgeous!)
What adorable chicks everyone keeps showing!
Out of my 11 eggs, 3 hatched and 2 lived. The one that died was spraddle legged and I am sure he had something else wrong with him too.
SInce their daddy was taken by a hawk, we really wanted another roo. We got a pullet and a cockerel! I am...
What adorable fluffy butts! Shay, that little loner is precious!
Arrrgh. It is taking forever. Last night there were 3 little holes. This morning one had zipped completely but it is still in its shell, peeping and flapping the one tiny wing that is exposed. I am sitting on my hands (well...

I have read over and over again not to do that if you have other eggs waiting to hatch because you can mess up the humidity and endanger the rest of the hatch. They can live for several days without food and water (this is how they ship day old chicks all over the country) so they will...
I am hoping to see some more action from my two pipped eggs soon. I broke the rule and opened the bator and moved them because they were sitting in a saturated egg carton. I will never use that method again (at least with the paper carton that is) because all it took was a splash of water from...
Shay,
I don't have any direct experience with opening the bator during the last three days, I only know what I have read. From this point, I would just leave things alone. Let nature take its course. Just make sure your temp. and humidity are stable. Good luck.
