A Mixed Blessing - Advice greatly appreciated

The little ones arrived today and seem to be doing well so far. After the initial dip of the bill when I took them out of their shipping box, they have had no problems finding the water. They each spent some time filling up and then off to investigate the brooder! All have started eating the...

A Mixed Blessing - Advice greatly appreciated

Miss Lydia, thank you for the excellent ideas! I would have never thought of the butter bowls with the holes in the lids. That should really cut down on the mess! I will prepare an exercise pen for them in the side yard between house and garage, lots of sun and very sheltered. I will supplement...

A Mixed Blessing - Advice greatly appreciated

Thank you for the response! I had no idea that goslings grew so quickly. I will double the size of the brooder that I am building this week. I can go up to 4x8 on the porch and still be able to get in and out. The sod is a great idea! I will definitely include that in the brooder. Thanks!

    FRUSTRATED...any ideas?

You might try Murray McMurray. I did a quick check and it looks like they have BR, Wyandotte (depending on color you want) and EE (Araucana in their catalog) available on some dates in April and May. Might be worth a try. Good Luck!

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

l think you will be very pleased with it when you are done tonysorrento. I just finished building my first one and I am very happy with it, and easy to do too! It only took me about 1/2 hour start to finish. I made a 2'x8' frame with 2x4's for the platform, ripped a sheet of plywood in half and...

I have some SLW, GLW, Dominiques, Faverolles and Brahmas ordered for May. This is my first time ordering from them, but I have heard good things about them from others. I am going to make the drive to pick them at the hatchery since they are only a couple of hours away.

    Hello from Iowa!

Hello All! I am very happy to have found this site. What a great resource and so many friendly and knowledgeable members in the forums! My grandparents raised chickens on the farm, but I don't know or remember 1/1000 of what they did (probably don't even know that much. LOL) I look forward...
