You're getting a slightly cooler reading in the trays because of the latent heat of evaporation ( the eggs are giving off humidity, which is cooling the air, and the eggs a little bit)
I'm gonna sell 2 gqf cabinets, just finished hatching with both in ear ly June, farm master 600 egg with push/ pull manual turners, and buckeye #14 style "E" , $350 each. I'm about an hour southeast of Niagara Falls..

Anyone heard of or seen a Wyandotte incubator, its kerosene fired, it heats air and has a wafer running the flapper for regulating the temperature.
Les any one know of a source for a burner or chimney for buckeye incubators? Or have you used a gas burner from something else with good results?
And now I'm searching for an instruction or operators manual for the early Buckeye incubators.
I got the same thing just tonight , I got 4 11 day olds with the feathers missing from the top of the wingsand bloody. I pulled the 4 and watched, nothing, so I set one back in, and one went right for the spot. I put the culprit in with my RIRs that are 4 days older and been watching for an...
It's never too early, last week it was nice and sunny out, so between the incubator and their box they got to play in the grass for a bit. I figure it's way better than living in a cardboard box in the mail for 3 days in March. Fresh popped popcorn or sweet clover blossoms are a real treat to...

Copper would be the way to build a pan, easy to solder, and the natural antimicrobial properties are free. Ever notice how you can see the coins in a public fountain? It's the copper and silver keeping the water clear.
Anyone tried a frogger or other ultrasonic humidity pump?
@ momhunter, do you watch the humidity with the wick on the thermometer? I'm trying a dry hatch, checked it once a week it hovered between 49 and 51% humidity. I'm using my other sportsman to hatch 30 eggs for Wednesday, it's hanging at 89° wet, it's using a pint of water in 24 hours, that's a...
Seems odd, the leahy in MD you posted a month ago is still advertised. They would sell in about 30 minutes around here.
Any ideas what people did years ago instead of buying humidity pads?
Does anyone know of any old time books written on hatching eggs, back in the days these beauties were built?
I have no complaints with the thermostats, it's been 52° up to 95° around the incubator and the temperature has held so close I can't see it.
on these humidity % , is everyone going off wet bulb / dry bulb readings?

Looking for some info on the older electronic thermostats used in the sportsman incubators. Last week I picked one up used, set the temperature, and depending on how warm the room was it would heat for 3 or 4 seconds then rest for 3 or 4. Then yesterday I added another 159 eggs and now it blinks...
Just picked up 228.1036, it has 6 drawers with the same push/pull turners described above. Can't wait to find enuf eggs to fill the old girl, then monitor the electric useage with my kill-a-watt meter. Its4 times as thick as the sportsman's + it's painted silver inside to reflect the heat back...
This is insane, just finished checking my thermometers against 2 new people thermometers, the $28 gqfs are reading 2-3.5+5° low. I'm glad I only put 30 eggs in the sportsman last night, and hopefully 24 hours of 102° didn't cause too much damage.
The original thermometer that came with the Farm...
I checked 9 thermometers yesterday, and even the ones from my sportsman's were off 5° from each other. I'm going to find a medical grade one today , to find out which ones are right.
Got the back off, the mouse nest is made from yellow fiberglass insulation. Feather dust from hatching? Maybe? It has accumulated while it was running. Looks like dust from paper bedding used for cows, I wonder if she was lining the hatching trays with paper bedding?
