First goose hatched ever, what to expect

So my first goose hatched. It was peeping and I put it under brooder lamp and gave some sugar water but is now seemingly tired/sleepy. Is this normal? What should I expect? Have never cared for birds I’ve hatched before

All good info. We collect rain water in the summer in 55 gallon barrels. We plan on getting one set to direct feed into a pooled area. Water shouldn’t be an issue! Also will have plenty of shelter; already have a coop that we will use for them. I also bought a book “keeping geese” for all the...

Getting geese for first time in spring

Ok great. I don’t intend to do any specialized breeding... if they produce babies then yay! I basically want some because I love my chickens (too much) and want to add a different type of bird. I tried guineas but they ran away! I figure a small amount of geese will be easier to handle, plus I...

Getting geese for first time in spring

This is so helpful thank you. So I’ll have to train them to go back inside at night? That’s fine just want to know what to do. How difficult is that to do??

Getting geese for first time in spring

I have a couple of questions: what type of feed is used when goslings arrive and are brooded? What type of feed is used in winter to supplement for loss of grass? And do geese return to roost at night as easily as chickens do?
