So my first goose hatched. It was peeping and I put it under brooder lamp and gave some sugar water but is now seemingly tired/sleepy. Is this normal? What should I expect? Have never cared for birds I’ve hatched before
Our goose started laying and sat on four eggs before we took them from her for the incubator. Will she start laying again? It’s been about three weeks since we took the eggs from her
Hello! I got two pilgrim geese this spring: male and female. Fell in love with them and want to add more next spring.
Question is: how do I do this without causing havoc? Which sex do I get?
Ended up with two pilgrims and they’re doing wonderfully. I officially love them more than my chickens! They eat the dandelions and dont scratch up my flower beds!
Also funny enough even tho they are still babes, they chased off our rooster when he was being obnoxious. It was great!
How do...
All good info. We collect rain water in the summer in 55 gallon barrels. We plan on getting one set to direct feed into a pooled area. Water shouldn’t be an issue! Also will have plenty of shelter; already have a coop that we will use for them. I also bought a book “keeping geese” for all the...
Ok great. I don’t intend to do any specialized breeding... if they produce babies then yay! I basically want some because I love my chickens (too much) and want to add a different type of bird. I tried guineas but they ran away! I figure a small amount of geese will be easier to handle, plus I...
Thanks! It was suggested to get 3 geese. Should I get two pairs? Or three of same breed? I definitely want a pair of pilgrim but also looking at Toulouse
Thanks everyone! They’ll have a man made water area next to my green house. And be raised/brooded on our porch and have their own coop area for night. Sta
This is so helpful thank you.
So I’ll have to train them to go back inside at night? That’s fine just want to know what to do. How difficult is that to do??
I have a couple of questions: what type of feed is used when goslings arrive and are brooded? What type of feed is used in winter to supplement for loss of grass? And do geese return to roost at night as easily as chickens do?
