Believe it or not, I use oxygen tubing. My grandma was on home oxygen and used 20ft+ of tubing to get from one side of her house to the other. It works great to hang my feeder and H20 for my meat birds. It also works great to tie up plants, and hang hanging plants on the hooks I have in the...
I would always be concerned about histoplasmosis. I am an R.N. and once took care of a young mom who developed this during the end of her pregnancy- she did have pigeons- not chickens, but it's something that can thrive in the chicken poo.
Hi Rooster Ray,
I live in Delton. You could try the feed bag in Richland, or the farmers Bureau in Battle Creek. My favorite food is the crumbles from Family Farm and Home in Urbandale. They don't seem to waste the crumbles.
Good luck finding what you're looking for.
Apparently I'm the most boring one here. I'm a mom first and foremost to four wonderful/rotten kids- 2 teens, and an 11 and 7 yr old. (all of them are wonderful and rotten at the same time). I work full time as an R.N.
I try like crazy to pay my bills, keep my house clean and run my kids here...
We are just finishing up our new coop, the old 4x8 coop was too small. The new one is 8x12. I have 8 Isa Browns and 4 seramas. We have a cement floor, lots of ventilation and light and so far no insulation. I am in Southwest Michigan and was wondering if I've got too much coop for my girls &...
Oh my gosh! What a beautiful coop! I'd love to seal the floor, but I'd have to wait weeks and It's driving me nuts not having my birds in their new home. We did pour a cement floor with a nice 6 inch diameter drain that will be capped when we aren't using it. Now I need to insulate and put the...
I guess I didn't quite understand what it was made out of, I could swear it's aluminum. The price was a bit less then the hardware cloth, but then our selection in this area is pretty poor. We have TSC and family, farm and home but they don't stock much.
Thanks for the info everyone.

At our local menards they carry something called lath panels that are 8ft by 27inches. They are a very fine mesh with sharp edges and I think they'd be easier to bury then the hardware cloth because you wouldn't have to unroll it and it stays up- plus it's kind of sharp and critters probably...
Thanks everyone! My DH has talked me into the cement. We'll be adding wood platforms to keep the girls off of the cement this winter. (kind of like wooden grids that can be moved- maybe 4ft by 4 ft) The floor wont have a smooth finish, and I hope to be able to paint it before we move the girls...
My daughter shows Seramas, and we have 6. We also have 6 meat birds that will go to fair in a couple of weeks and since I've got to feed seramas all winter and the feed store had Isa Brown chicks..... well you can guess what I've done! I got 8 egg layers. Now we've out grown our 4x6 coop. We're...
I had mine at ages 23,24,27, and 31. I wish I would have waited until I was a few years older to start. My mom was 36 when I was born (I was #5) and all of my friends preferred to hang out at my house because my mom was so laid back and calm- I really, really feel like I was uptight with my...
I use the cheap Biospot from Wal-mart. I think that Hartz also has a brand too. I use the one that is for very small dogs and apply one drop behind each birds neck. It works! Every child in my daughters 4H group uses these on their birds before they go to the fair. It usually lasts about a month...
