I've fed Nature's Best Organic at times & even though the layer is 16%, the chickens laid more. Your experience may be different, but it is not proven that they less on organic feed.
I had three times in 30 years that this happened. I have 6 Anconas hatched 4/12 & they started to molt in December & haven't laid an egg since 12/6. They are supposed to be good winter layers. I have no idea why it happens.
