I wouldn't think a chick this young would be as big as it appears it is if it came from a Silkie size egg. I am judging by the hand holding it though if it is a childs hand in the photo it will make more sense.

I was looking more at the tail feathers but your right my hens never have that deeper dark red on the wings.

These both look like cockerels to me also.
