I have my eggs on an automatic turner. When getting ready for lock down, can i move the eggs off the turner on the the wire rack (with paper towel on rack) after throughly washing my hands? i hate to see them hatch on the turner.
I have ten juniors in a pen with a mini coop behind my large coop that holds 7 adults. three roosters and 4 hens. Yes, i need to see if someone wants a polish rooster and decrease the amount of roosters i have. Anyway, I closed the big door to the large coop today, and opened the chicken door...
I took the egg out from under her yesterday and yet she is still sitting there thinking she is sitting on an egg, lol. She usually lays an egg for me everyday but no egg yet today and she is still in the nest. I have moved her and she goes right back. Any suggestions?
I ordered polish, red silkies, welsummers and white silkie eggs. three out of 12 eggs hatched. Two had chicks that were full grown but did not hatch. I think the one is a polish, one is a blue silkie but not sure about the yellow one. Ordered red silkies, white silkies, polish, welsummer eggs.
Lost my only red silkie hen :(. Wanting to get another one or maybe two for my Red silkie rooster. I don't want to start with chicks if can help it. Every where I have looked online shows chicks or eggs. I did not add a price like it asked for since I don't know what the asking price is for...

Was going to make one out of pallets. Between the high heat, time and no help, I decided to buy a coop from a local area from www.countrysidebarns.com in Eureka, IL. Love the coop! Will hold 20 to 25 chickens and has a vented metal roof, two windows, human door, and of course, a chicken door...
I have 7 silkies. One black and one gold are supposedly males. Not sure yet which ones. They are all doing well so far. The new coop will be here tomorrow. Holds up to 25 hens. They difinitely need a bigger coop now.
Just started raising chickens. I have 1 red sexed, 1 wyandote, 7 silkies, 1 easter, and 1 welsummer. working on getting bigger chicken coop built with pallets. I was so glad to find this forum. Now, I can see what is available locally.
So excited! I have been given several pallets that are in great condition. Now, I can build my pallet coop. I was going to buy a coop but saw the plans for the pallet coop and I have a friend that gets great pallets all the time because of his business. Won't start the project for two weeks...
Hello,
Great site! Just started with raising chickens. Have a small coop but I am hoping to get a bigger one soon. Would like to do a rent-a-coop but not sure if there are any in IL. I am learning a lot of great tips on BYC. Hope to hear from some other IL neighbors also. Deb
