The African and Chinese goose thread!!

I like seeing the pics here. I think Africans are very attractive geese, but I didnt end up getting one because Im in a suburban area and I didnt want to take the risk of the noise they are capable of. So I will enjoy my Sebbies and keep looking at the pics in this thread.

    My first geese

Theyre about three weeks apart in age. Roughly. But theyve been raised with each other so the big one doesnt bully the little one, in fact, he seems to hover over the little one protectively.

    My first geese

They are actually 'mutts'. One is a Cayuga/Black Swedish cross and the other is a Crested/Black Swedish/Cayuga cross. The former lays green eggs, the latter lays white eggs.

    Sexing mallard juveniles

I have six mallards that I got as ducklings about 6-7 weeks ago. Theyre starting to really feather out now and I noticed today that four of them have the faintest green tint to their heads in the sunlight. If I had to wager a guess Id say I had four males and two females. But I want other...

    Cackling Canada Geese? Stromberg's?

I am new here. I am a waterfowl fancier that keeps a small backyard flock of ducks and geese. (2 mixed ducks, 1 sebastapol, mallard runners) Is anyone here familiar with the 'cackling' canada goose variety? The smaller species. I really would like to add canadas to my flock and these...
