Just put mine into lock down. I am down to 4 from 12, 5 were infertile and 3 had stopped mid-way. 2 of the ones in lock down are questionable, but we will see.
Good Morning, I set 12 porcelain silkies yesterday. This is my second batch. Keeping temp. around 98-99, humidity about 60. Can't seem to get the humidity to stay down around 45 to 50. Had a 75% success rate with my last batch.
Congrats on the 100%!! And congrats to everyone else! I now have 10, the last two hatched overnight and there is one more making his way out! So, for my first batch it isn't too bad. Started with 15, two didn't make it and two there is no evidence of anything happening. Will let them stay...
7 have hatched with three still pipping. https://www.backyardchickens.com/image/id/7016197 The last one to hatch is the little black one, it is a silkie and has gold tipped fur...
My #6 is doing better and getting along well, had to pinch off the shell it was dragging around. It was all dried up just hanging on and the little one was getting tired dragging that thing around.
I have two of my silkies pipping right now, they are so small compared to my others...
I am up to 6 now but #6 seems a bit weak, will have to keep an eye on her. Still have 6 eggs in there that haven't even pipped yet, but like Gwendalynn, they weren't even due until tomorrow or Tuesday.
My Mamasita has 5 under her that should be hatching just about now too! If any of these make it out I will try the same. Last year she went broody about the same time another one did and they fought over the eggs. They would both sit in the box at the same time. When the chicks hatched the...
I have 5 pips now, they seem to break through and then nothing. It has been 24 hours since the first one pipped and it doesn't show anything more. I have another that seemed to be moving along faster than the first and it was breaking through nicely last night. You could see the little beak...
I have another one pipping and it is further along than the one that started this morning. The one from this morning now has long cracks coming out of it, but no real hole yet. The second one has a hole and a big chunk that will fall off with the next big kick.
I think I have one starting to pip? https://www.backyardchickens.com/image/id/7002607 Is this what it looks like when they start?

I am still trying to get my humidity up past 65%, I think I will get a sponge this morning and put it in there.
Congrats to all the new babies out there, I am very excited to hear about them and see them. I still have to wait until Monday for mine.
Just put mine into lock down! Hope it works. They were all full and several were moving around. There was one that was full, but up around the air pocket it still looked a bit watery, does that mean something is wrong?
Good luck everyone!
Well, when we first got her with a few others, they just said a wyandotte but she doesn't look like all the others. Never knew there were so many varieties! lol
