Question....We went out of town to the State Fair. It was a blast. The problem is my lil sis forgot to come collect eggs. So I had eggs from Saturday and Sunday. We got back Sunday evening. Would the eggs that sat all Saturday and Sunday still be edible? I also have no idea which eggs are...
Well sad day at my house. My 8 year old daughter and I went to check on the chickens after i had been gone all morning and she had just gotten home from school. Only to find the the older chickens had killed the younger one that we had put in with them. I'm so frustrated right now. I thought i...
Hey for any BYU fans. This article is about my Grandpa. These guys were awesome. It totally made his day. https://www.ksl.com/?sid=21842760&nid=294&title=mans-final-wish-granted-with-visit-from-byu-football-players&s_cid=featured-4
Well my older chickens decided to pick on the younger one that i put in with them. They cornered her and pecked a nickle sized spot near her tail feathers. Luckily my husband cought them before they did anything else. Is there anything we can do or should i just wait longer to put her back in...
Well we got rid of are rooster. He was starting to crow and we can have him in town. So we put the younger girl in with the older. They peck at her when she gets in the way. Some times they chase her around. So she has taken to standing in a corner with her head down, hiding in the nesting boxes...
Well Ive discovered that i cant make my homemade bread any more because i react to the yeast. So i was wondering if anyone has or knows of a good bread recipe that doesn't require yeast. Or a flat bread. Anything yeast free. Ive tried Irish soda bread and that's about it so far. Its a bummer my...
Ok when i check the nest box this morning a new girl was in the box.
Red Riding Hood laid her first egg. YayIve got 2 layers now. Henny didn't lay hers today so we still only got one egg. The kids cant wait to collect more than 1 egg at a time.
Well i went out to check and see if my chicken was just being late laying her egg. I found my RIR sitting in the nest box looking like she wanted to lay and egg. I guess ill have to go back and check in awhile to see if she succeeded.
My cal-ranch has half off chicks too. The kids really wanted to get some more. We can only hvae 6 though and no roosters. So my Daughter said we could get rid of her boy and get a new one. I just dont want to start on another chick at the moment.
So I was wondering what other good breeds are...
Nope. We have a RIR, BO, 2 sex links (red or gold im not sure), these are the only ones old enough to lay. We also have an SLW and an Amerucona that are around 2 mon old.
Well we discovered who the egg laying culprit was.
The guesses were right. Henny was the one. We caught her in the act. My 4 year old son was way excited to have his turn collecting the egg. His comments were "its warm"
Ok just went and checked again we got a 3rd egg. Looks the same as the other 2. So im guessing maybe a new layer on the little white one. Will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.
Ok went to clean out my coop and i found a lil whitish colored egg in a different part of the coop. Someone had pecked into it. I'm not sure how long its been in there though. It looked fresh. So far the 2 eggs ive gotten have been the same color. Could this be someone else laying a first egg...
