Blind Chicken What Do I Do

Our 16 year old bantam silkie cross has gone blind in her old age. We put water and food into large dog bowls so she trips on them and there is a large area she can eat and drink from. Its pretty sad. Other than her sight she is in good health and the other hens do not bother her. She...

    Fox Attacks

We built a run that has a wire 'roof' and the wire on the walls went below ground level under a log and then the wire was carried outwards like a horizontal skirt so that foxes couldn't dig under the wire. Every night the henhouse was locked up so nothing could eat them. It worked. Ten years...

Been crying all afternoon, thoughts on solution?

Oooo, that ex 'friend' is a nasty piece of work isn't she? Perhaps if you'd only had 2 or 3 chicks it may not have cause an issue as people are way more tolerant of just a couple of birds than a lot. Chooks an be smelly if not managed properly so maybe that was foremost in their mind. The...

My chickens won't eat table scraps or treats!

That's so weird. My new hens won't eat scraps either. I got them about 6 weeks ago and they just look at fruit and vegie scraps and go nu-uh. So annoying. They only eat bugs (all types), grain, bread and kikuya grass. Never, ever had chooks that won't eat scraps. I guess the breeder never...
