She was fine when i opened the chicken coop in the morning, but when I went down to shut it she was on the ground. She was breathing rather hard and raspy. Also i noticed she had a lot of white discharge from her vent, but when someone looked at her they said it was not egg binding. she was...
I have 5 eggs and the first two hatched with no problem, but the other two that are pipping now I'm confused about. Where they started pipping you can tell there is blood. The pieces of egg shells they managed to break off is also bloody. Is this normal or will the chicks be hurt/messed up?
ok that makes me feel a little better. Its just my first hatch and when they didn't hatch when they should i got concerned and the fact that they have been rocking for over a day and a half without pipping makes me very nervous. . . but thanks for your reply i appreciate it :))
yes i had a calendar that had the date and time i started incubation and when they should hatch. Im just concerned with the fact that they have been rocking/shaking for over a day and a half now but none will pip.
My eggs have been shaking like crazy for the past day and a half now and its the 22nd day but none have been pipping yet. Is this normal? like i said its the first time i have EVER hatched eggs in my room.
I have always heard it takes 21 days for a chicken to hatch, but lately other people have told me they can hatch as early as day 18 to as late as day 28. Is this true? Isn't that unhealthy?
That was a really helpful video! Thank you for posting it :) I'm incubating chicks that are supposed to hatch this Monday and if this video is true it will really help with determining which chick is what gender
I heard that if the temperature is to warm then chicks will hatch early, but I'm not sure why the others haven't hatched yet. If the other eggs haven't pipped then yea you should be ok with taking her out :))
well its a homemade incubator so the way i cool off the eggs or make it hotter is by moving this flap of duck tape. but its been getting really hot outside and in my room so it screws with the temperature. it will be 99 degrees and then for a few minutes or so it will swing from as high as 102...
I made my own incubator and the temperature held really well for the first 18 days, but after that it went downhill. I've been having trouble with the temp being constant and all and I'm afraid something is going to be wrong with the chicks. They are still moving in the eggs, but can someone...
So two years ago when i was in 8th grade i rescued this rooster. I thought it was a phoenix of some kind (someone dropped it off in a neighbor hood and called me to get it) can anyone identify it?
So i went to bed at 2 am and my temperature read 99.5 degrees. I woke up at 5am and it was at 104 degrees F. I immediately fixed it and candled my eggs and they are all moving (they are 18 days old) is there still a chance they can die? this is my first time incubating chicks. They are easter...
