My white leghorn managed just over 2 weeks then that was it didnt want to know! What made it worse is i checked one and they were developing well. Such a shame!
Yay someone who succeeded with a broody leghorn! Its been 6 days so far and shes not budging. Being a trooper! Hardly eaten, her comb is fading fast. Shes sitting on 10 eggs and im hoping, im hoping xx
i have 3 new chicks with my maran broodie. I sourced fertile eggs for her to sit on. The maran was sitting on lemon pyle brahma, and another type but cant remember whivh. I know (i think) 2 are lemon pyle brahma but the larger whiter, with dark wings is i think possibley a boy or a different...

Good idea with the wood shavings! Think I've read somewhere on here that chucking yr grass clippings on the floor helps too....and the chicks love kicking it round looking for any bugs etc
Your 'babies' look great! How quickly they grow up! Can you tell me what ages the girls started laying? I've a trio of pullets at 4 months old and wondering when they will become productive? Ty
Thanks for the advice - humidity the last few days has been about 65% but as soon as First born shot up to about 75% and now its at the 60% mark. Think I'll wait till bed time and have another look . Ive the brooder box ready and the brinsea hen is warmed up ready I may top up and move her...
