I have noticed that sometimes my eggs get what looks like an oily spot on the thin end as it sits in the egg carton, im wondering what causes it. The eggs taste fine, the chiken is in good health albeit bossy. Has anyone ever had an egg do this? I have a picture but cant get it to upload, I...
mine is Jingles, one of our 6 Silver-laced Wyandottes, used to have a brown leghorn that was very friendly. I heard the W were very frinedly thats why we picked them, but not all of them are? who knows...
My chickens live in an 8 X 10 pen with an all dirt/sand floor (we live in Georgia, not clay floor, just the dirt) & occasionally free range in the yard (maybe an hour a day), should i provide extra grit?
II guess i just noticed today the "purring"or better yet "trilling". Its very nice. Daisy is getting ready to lay her egg today & this is waht she is doing. love there little personalities. I would say she is content too!
Aww, thanks again every1, I believe they are pullets, Daisy started laying this week!. At least as far as I know its only her since I saw her today, hopefully the others wont b far behind. I put out an egg around Saturday & got my first egg Sunday.
we have Annabelle, Betsy (or momma), Cleo, Daisy, Fiona and Jingles (sometimes Dingles). I wanted to put a sign up on my henhouse but cant make up my mind. As a group they are called "girls", not very original, I will have to work on that
