I picked up a pair of blacks, columbians and really nice pair of silver laced. Also got some blrw chicks growing out. Would like to add whites, blues and silver pencilled.
Hello, Its been a few years since I raised chickens, but I have recently decided to get back into them. I started this thread way back in 2014. I think its time to try to revive it.
All depends on each hen. Ive had many different hens go broody and then others that never do. I haven't found one specific color that is more or less broody than others.
I could not find a thread on Neiderrheiner chickens, so I figured I would ask here since they are similar to Bielefelders. Does anyone have any experience with them, if so how are they to raise, pics, etc.
Good yellow feet, Good wingset, good quality lacing just be careful not to let it get to thin. It's hard to tell shape in pic, if you can get a pic with her head up alert it would help. Just my opinion.
Found some light sussex with good shape. My question is what color can you expect breeding a light hen to a coronation rooster? Which type would they likely take after, hen or rooster? Thanks
I am new to this thread but I am very interested in this breed. I would love to purchase chicks or young birds, but I can not find really any for sale. Does anyone know of anyone selling quality corronations chicks that doesn't mind shipping to Louisiana.
Thanks
Its hard to tell in pictures what a bird really looks like, but he appears to be lacking in overall wyandotte shape/type. He does have a rosecomb which says wyandotte but his tail and body shape are off. here's a pic of my breeder wyandotte rooster to compare.
I do not show my birds, but all of my stock come from show quality lines. As far as the judges go I have heard that they are very different in traits they concentrate on selecting; some look for color, other look for type, etc. I think if you would pull up the wyandotte standard of perfection...
Uncle bees does have good birds, I have plenty of birds I hatched from him, all are great. As far as single comb goes, rose comb is dominant over single so it will breed out. I try to breed as close to show quality, so for me personally, a single comb is a cull.
