Thanks :)
They primarily are cooped but have gone out a few times. I just wondered because they have never been wormed. They also seem a little thin to me but they eat all they get their beaks on lol. Maybe that's just the breed, I don't know. These are my first chickens, and they are my babies...
Hi everyone, this might sound silly to some, but...I'm looking for somewhere to board my 2 chickens (hen and roo) for about 2 weeks this June. They are d'uccles. Were in West Palm Beach, but we'd be willing to drive about an hour away. I just didn't know who to ask, it's not like the dog who...
I gave my pullet and cockerel crickets for the first time...........what a riot!! I've never seen them go so crazy! The pullet started attacking to get to the box of crickets LOL they also finally ate the live mealworms after tasting cricket. Before they would only eat dried mealworms. They...
Said to the next door neighbors: "No, really, we don't have a rooster. Our parrot just learned how to crow like one!" then, a few weeks later neighbour says, "Every morning we hear your parrot crowing and we just laugh so hard!" trust me, I'm laughing harder!!!!!! She even told some people...
I got my chicken diapers from Louise's Country Closet. She is here on BYC! I'm totally pleased with them. My chickens spend a lot of time in the house so it makes life 1000% easier.
We call them the Kardashickens bc they r so spoiled LOL.
The cockerel crows every morning at 815 and he crows all...
Haha thanks! I do cuddle them a lot so it definitely fits! Is your rooster very sweet and cuddly too? My cockerel(Gin) loves cuddles and will fall asleep in my lap. My pullet (Tonic) will follow me everywhere and she always jumps up on the couch and just sits (I have diapers for them).
Her feet are fine. Don't see any prob there. My cockerel (also d'uccle) is the one with foot issues- he's forever breaking a feather on his feet and he bleeds. First time that happened I panicked LOL.
But the pullet's feet are ok, I did notice the past 2 days her eggs are a bit smaller though...
I just thought maybe it could mean something else, glad it's nothing major. :) sure can't help the mosquitoes or ants here in Florida! Lol. Thanks for the advice.
I went to the link too bc I didn't know what an egg song was-and said the SAME thing! If my little rooster gets scared he makes the same sound! He's a d'uccle.
My d'uccle pullet doesn't make that sound at all when she lays her egg. I wouldn't even know how to describe her egg song! Just that...
My hen is acting so weird. She was pecking around and then ran around super fast and just sat down. I've seen her do it 3 times now. Is this normal behavior? I'm new to chickens and I've tried searching this forum and google, but nothing. She's 8 months, seems normal otherwise, just laid her...
That makes sense. Again, I'm still just learning! :) I do not plan to show them or anything, they are just pets. They both have great personalities! The boy has the most gentle demeanor he cuddles with me and hops into my lap to be petted. The girl is the same. I never knew chickens could be...
Sooo ridiculous! This is why we want to leave south Florida. Were tired of being told how to live!!!! I live in an HOA community and unfortunately the president of the HOA lives next door to me! LOL it really isn't funny she makes us INSANE about everything I could write a book. Last month we...
I don't know if they are from a hatchery or what, we got them from our local feed store as baby chicks. I think the cockerel is a porcelain based on the pictures I've seen on this thread and the pullet is the self blue color. His comb looks like he has a bad comb over hairdo LOL its just flopped...
Do all duccle hens/pullets have floppy combs? Mine has a floppy comb but all the other pics I see on here the hen/pullet has a short comb that stands up. She is the self blue color, 8 months old, lays every day and seems to be quite healthy. I was just wondering. Never owned chickens before. :)
