I mean I wasn't trying to get all complicated with these people and I was trying to help. I was just saying that's where they came from a blue egger and another breed of chicken. and yes EEs and EEs.
You can breed a "mixed" color Ameraucana to a "true " color Ameraucana and get true colors. So they are NOT easter egger chickens. You just cannot show them. This website explains want an easter egger is http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/search/label/easter%20egger
What are Easter Egg...
Those are Easter Eggers for sure. An easter egger is an Ameraucana or Araucana (different blue egg laying breeds) mixed with a regular brown laying chicken. Hatcheries need to stop labeling these as Ameraucanas. I have some Easter eggers and they are beautiful birds. The color on them will be a...
You cannot tell the difference between the pullets and cockerels until they feather out. The cockerels will have more black or blue on them than the pullets but you cant see on the pullets until they start getting their blue or black feathers. The only feathers I THINK you can be sure on are the...
Blue splash occurs when you breed 2 blue wheaten ameraucanas together. It is NOT a recognized color BUT if you breed a splash hen to a Wheaten rooster you will get all blue wheaten babies. it makes no sense to me. But thats the genetics. The link explains it better than I can and has a picture...

I bet people at the store switch them too. But my rooster looks like a cuckoo maran and has weird colors in him so I think he is part something else.It just stinks because you pay more for them and expect them to be something they are not. I enjoy them though so that is what matters!
Thanks!! I have another hen that has the grey legs. I also have a rooster that has whitish-yellow legs. All three were supposed to be cuckoo marans. I don't think I will buy from that farm store again!
I bought her from a farm store has a Cuckoo Maran as a gift to my mother-in-law.Then she gave us all of her chickens. She doesn't lay dark chocolate eggs.
