I was wondering the same thing! I feed my chickens at night, but it would be great if we didn't have to. It seems like you'd have to but I've never had ducks before.
So I have to get a straight run khaki Campbell duck. Can I keep with the chickens? I was going to give it a small kiddie pool, but if that's bad I don't have to. What if it's a male? Thanks!
Oooooooooooo... they are all so cute! I will post pics as soon as I get them! We are getting an easter egger, a gold star, and a silver laced wyandotte. I have chick fever
So ever since we got chickens, a family friend's kids have been BEGGING for them. They can't get chickens, so they offered to pay for the costs of one chicken, if we will house it and keep it alive. They get to come visit it, have some eggs, and have pictures and an adoption certificate for it...
I have fed my chicks sand in a separate container. They LOVE it! If they are foraging, they should get enough (as said by aggiemae) but I fed it anyway. Good luck!
Barred plymouth rock hens are very good layers, we are getting almost one egg a day from each! This year we are getting Marans, Easter Eggers, and a buff orpington. Have fun with your new chicks!
I am wondering how to do this, too. I have a VERY small flock (two barred rocks) and am planning on addding 3 new chicks this year. The barred rocks will be about 1 when we will be getting the new ones. Thanks for any help or advice!
