Hi there, I have to part with two of my brood since one of the older chicks crowed and proved his masculinity. I'm trying to pick a pullet from these two that can leave with him.
So here is a "Mille fleur d'uccle" pullet or cockerel?
My EE roo Gertrude has been wearing his no crow for the past 6 months. It works very well for him, his crow sounds more like a morning dove these days. The collar also seems to tame him just a bit too, kindof like he views me as the boss now. I remove the collar periodically for him to groom his...
But what's up with Garnets butt? Hen on left with her new flock Gertrude the EE Rooster, Oyster Rea the Dominique, and Honeybee the Buff Orpington.
She came from a crowded coop situation with about 30 other chickens and two roosters. Eggs were overflowing from the nest box and the coop floor...
Seems it is so. I recall the rooster she was with was barred. Disappointed when I got a normal brown egg and not chocolate. Thank you all for your input. Her name is Garnet.
This hen is the newest addition to the flock. Is she a Copper Marans? Also, how does one tell a chickens age? She also has a bright red butt, is that from an over zealous rooster?
Thank you all!
On the suspect Mille fleur d'Uccle, are the foot feathers what they call Vulture hocks? She is constantly tripping on them. Is it suggested to trim these feathers at all?
I agree too.
What breed do you think Snapdragon could be? He has feathers on his feet and is the slowest to feather in. Probably twice as dense as Pebbles, the tallest chick. Oodles of personality!
Hi y'all. Four weeks ago I purchased these five assorted bantam chicks from TSC. I am looking for more input on what breed and gender they could be. Thanks!
Snapdragon - little Chunky
Little Viola my baby bald Eagle
Marigold the little hen I hope
Pebbles I think is a Mille fleur

I joined BYC when I became keeper of the flock in 2012. I'm currently brooding 5 assorted bantam chicks from TSC in Breaux Bridge. I picked up another three straight run mixed flock of something like a Copper Maran, Araucana, and a little Mille fleur. I tried my best at feather sexing and the...
