    Are my chickens broken?

Thanks for the info, everyone! I was going to post about my chickens. I have a russian orloff, salmon faverolle, and a marans and none of them are laying yet. They are all 32 weeks old. I was starting to wonder if something was wrong with them. My barred rocks and Isa browns were all laying...

    waiting, waiting...

Our barred rocks started laying right around 20 weeks. We have 2 of them and I believe one started laying at 20 and one was 22 weeks. We have golf balls in the nesting box to encourage them to lay. Our ISA browns started laying around 16 weeks and they have layed an egg every single day...

Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

My silkie ate the diamond out of my mom's wedding ring! Our Isa Brown has ate a small trim nail and my daughter's earring, which she plucked right out of her ear. Both of these things occured several months ago and they seem okay.

My sister did this and she said it was pretty easy. Much cheaper than buying Braggs!

Diary of a Crossbeak: Support for Special Needs Chickens and their Keepers

This is our 27 week old Russian Orloff, Sweetie. Her name says it all. She is a total sweetheart! She doesn't seem to have too much trouble eating. But, I'm not sure how to tell if she's getting enough to eat. She's the only Russian Orloff we have, so I'm not sure how big she is supposed to...

One hen died this morning- concerned about other hens getting ill, too.

It's been a little over a month and all of the other hens seem to be doing fine, thank goodness! Thank you for your help!

    Crooked beak

We have a 24 week old chicken that has a similar type of beak. She seems to be doing fine. She is growing, and she just layed her first egg. We don't do anything special to help her eat. She is also our friendliest chicken and seems to love the kids.

New rollout nest design Picture heavy-edited 1/21

The inside of the nesting box- My husband screwed some golf balls down to give them the right idea. It seems to be working- they are using it! The eggs don't always roll out, but they usually do. View standing back a bit. They like to sit on top of the boxes and look out the window in...

With two very upset kiddos, I couldn't do that. :( My husband buried her last night. Thank you so much for your help, though!

Thank you for your replies! It really surprises me how quickly we fell in love with these chickens. This is our first time raising chickens and I really didn't think I'd like them. I sure was wrong! I think I've found the local government extension office, but I can't find any information...

One hen died this morning- concerned about other hens getting ill, too.

Our 17 week old black sex link hen, Blackwing, died this morning. Yesterday she didn't come out of the coop in the morning and I noticed some runny poop that looked like it had some blood spots in it. I took samples of the stool to the vet and they said it was clear of any parasites. She...
