That's great news! Try to resist the urge to interrupt or open the incubator unless it's a real necessity, and let nature take it's course. Trust me everything will run smoother. Soon you will have a bunch of cute little quail chicks to share their pictures with the rest of us!
Keep us posted!
You can actually see some shiny baby saddle feathers, and the iridescent tail feathers. It's actually quite apparent!
I you can't have a roo for whatever reason, you might want to find him a home soon. Otherwise, congrats on your little Roo!
Hi and welcome too BYC.
Well you seem on the right track! Nice stuff happening.
I can't say much more and I'm sure fellow BYCers will drop by and give tips.
Cheers and keep us updated.
Hi and !
All i can say is that duck eggs require higher humidity than chicken eggs. The easiest way is to go with an automatic incubator with which you can set the required humidity. However many people achieve similar results with homemade incubators and basic incubators by monitoring humidity...
Hi LadyVictorian,
Very exciting time planning to add new members to the flock.
About the ducks and the pond, all breeds will try to get to it. Unless you prevent it by fencing the free range area.
As Adalida said ubove, Miscovies are a little less frantic about water than Mallard derived...
Hi Kartay, welcome to BYC.
Congrats on your new ducks. Given they are 8 months old and were laying eggs and stopped because of the cold, they should resume laying when they deem suitable. Besides when ducks(and other fowl) move to a new home they generally stop laying for a short period until...
I'm not expert in that area, but i guess both injection and orally would work, i would have given orally if it's the same... As for the oyster shells, they might needa change, or if they still won't touch fresh oyster shell, then there is a calcium fortified kind of feed that gives them all the...
Nooo don't blame yourself!!! Didn't we agree that you should not blame yourself begorehand?!! Like i told yoy, the poor creature was dying.... And it peacefully went away in the warmth of your home! You did much much more than anyone would have done!
Thank you sooo much for caring for the life...
She definitely is sick and is dying, sorry to tell you that, the best thing to do is take her to an animal shelter or rehab so they can assess her condition... She might be so sick the best thing to do is euthanise her and let her rest from her pain... That might sound cruel but it's more human...
Yep you're right she might be a female and that male was courting her but she was too sick for it... All i can say at this point is that you do not blame yourself about anything because you've already done more than anybody would have! I just hope this fella gets better soon... She definitely...
What you have done so far is great.... However sometimes we have to let nature take it's course.... The picture doesn't show if it's young or not, but I'm more keen that it's more of an adult? Thank you sooo much for caring for the little creature! Hope he gets better soon... Sometimes all we...
Agree with Hokum Coco, and it might be a juvenile learning how to live independently and going through that rough phase.... You seen like an amazing person! Thanks for thinking about the little one! Keep us updated on "her" :)
Cheers
