I am curious now!
Are you certain it is the yolk you are seeing?
I had 3/7 hatch. It was such a traumatic process for me, being in charge of little lives.there's so much to consider in can be so overwhelming for a new "icubator person." I used to dream my eggs were in a basket about to roll...
I use the Mauzuri and love it. however i am not as familier with the other. Plus, I think it depends on what you plan to do with your ducks. If you plan to eat them, you may not want a "sustainer." If not, your duckd are at an age where they need to switch off of a "grower" feed for healthy...
Here's some info:
Many domestic ducks cant fly, so dont just leave a duck out by a local lake and expect it to be okay. They are super social! They need company. In fact, they are sort of like dogs, or children; when they bond to you, they will love you forever. Also, when a duck is happy to see...
Jailbird is looking so much better! She is still obviously not feeling well, but I can see real improvement. Her tail is finally back up where it should be too! Today I picked up some more meds from vet. He also sent home a jar of baby food (green beans I think) to hopefully kill some of the...
It's Giardia! Must have deen drinking some bad water in a low lying spot yesterday morning and then the infection hit her hard and fast. She pooped super smelly, light green poo at the vet and he was able to test it. The vet gave Jailbird 2 meds. We have to keep her confined and at or around 80...
She finally laid her egg this morning. It is perfect. However, she is not well. She almost acts like she has vertigo now. Tail still down. Stopped eating and drinking. I am at the vet right now. She has weird, green poop right in front of doc, so he's testing it. Jailbird still tries to do her...
Thank you!! She is eating some.... not the same vigor as usual. She's a noisy, boisterous personality, but today she won't "wak" back if I say her name. She hasn't been nagging me for food either with her usual "A-h! A-H! A-H!" She just looks not good...
i just got her out of the tub. Shem did...
Yes, Jailbird lays about 3 to 4 eggs a week even though she's a Mallard (unless she's molting).
Ok, thank you, thank you, thank you! Should I use Epson salt in the tub too? She's my precious baby girl.
She had 2 weird eggs around 3 months ago (not hard shell), but the issue resolved itself...
My mallard Susie has her tail tucked under, as if she is uncomfortable.
She was fine yesterday, as seen in photo above.
She is almosr 3. She appears quiet tired and not at all herself. She's been like this all day. Help!!! This is a new behavior. She was fine last night and as noisy as ever...
Yes, many people have very strong opinions on angel wing causes. I think that there isn't one "right" answer...
In terms in wild ducks/geese, research some indicates that those that hang around and are fed by people will be the only wild ones with angel wing.
With pet ducks, however, there...
It certainly sounds like she was someone's pet duck. Poor kid. I hope she integrates well with your chickens. Good luck and thanks for taking care of her!!! I bet she is very happy to have people around to love her!
I am so sorry to hear that your duck was killed! One my my ducks (my very favorite duck) had the very same thing happend... just as you described... I assumed it was a hawk, because she was intact other than the top of her and the inside. It looked like hawk had killed her.
SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!!
I had 2 ducks whose wings sagged like that, at different times as they were both maturing. They eventually raised back up and nestled in nicely, right where they were supposed to go.
Did your duck's wing always look like that, or is this new?
Sometimes, when duck are maturing and growing feathers, the blood flow to their wings is intensified. This creates extra weight, subsequently causing the wing to "sag." I am not expert, however, it looks to me as though your drake's wing is simply sagging, as opposed to having angel wing.
Just...
Live worms for fishing make mine go crazy! I can pretty much lure her anywhere by holding up a worm. She will even jump up to get it when I ask her to. So, you could try the same...
Get a few live worms. Give a couple of the worms to your ducks as a treat so that the ducks know you have worms...
