I currently have standard Cochin chicks (one week old as of April 2 '09). Will have more later in the season. Also Silver Laced wyandottes, and Buff Jap. Bantams. I am near Neepawa, Manitoba.
My hens have started laying again for about the last month. It has been cold, and I am just starting to see the rooster "doing his job". The last couple of days I have been getting some darker eggs. Does this mean they are fertile?
I have small flocks of SL & GL wyandottes, standard cochins (all colours), and buff black tailed japanese. Always looking for an egg swap for any purebred birds (chicken or whatever!).
Hello.
My daughter and I keep a small flock of standard cochins (all colours), silver laced wyandottes, and buff black tailed japanese. If you are interested in any of these, I would be willing to do an egg swap, or if you would like, I could sell you some eggs. Regards!
I would be interested as I am trying to develop a breeding flock of different wyandottes in western Manitoba. If you could let me know when you have eggs available, it would be appreciated! Regards! Todd

I'm glad someone else gives their chickens names like "Bess Truman" and "Pat Nixon". I told my wife I was going to teach my young rooster to play tic-tac-toe, so now we have been calling him Bobby Fisher. (Yes, I do have too much time on my hands!)

My 3 year old son has named the rooster "Shrek", so he's not going anywhere. Shrek isn't really a problem anymore anyway. The hens just go there on their own.
My young hens come onto my deck and make a mess. I have noticed that they first started coming onto the deck to reject the advances of a young rooster (and for some reason, he doesn't follow them onto the deck), but now they have just made themselves at home up there. I NEED YOUR HELP! If my...
