I would love to get 8 Olive Egger eggs (non autosexing) if you have them available. I finally have a broody and am dying to get something under her :) thanks!
I crossed my CCL hen with a barred frizzled crested OE roo. I got about half pure white chicks and half orange/gray barred chicks. They are all grown up now and just started laying big light olive green eggs :)
here is my favorite hen. She has a wicked beard and crest!
here is one...
Hi everyone! Im in Seattle and would love to hatch some chicks this spring but cannot bring myself to fire up the brooder. I love hatching in my incubator, but brooding is such a pain! Does anyone have a determined broody they would like to sell/trade/lend? thanks!
Ive seen some folks making OEs with SBELs. SBEL are ameraucaua x leghorn, so are heterozygous for the blue gene. So if you cross these with a dark brown egg layer, wouldn't only half of these offsprings lay olive eggs? Am I missing something here?
Im praying one of my ladies will go broody for me. Im dying for some of Donna's Barred Rocks but the bator and brooder are all packed away for now. I've been drooling every time she posts one of these awesome BIN's.
Im really happy with the way my only SFH is feathering in. Her primaries are still solid white, is that normal? Its amazing how much she has changed!
at 12 weeks:
and now here she is at 17 weeks:
Handsome boys! Im trying to find a home for my roo also. Mine is 16 weeks but significantly less developed than yours. Before I rehome him can someone confirm this is indeed a cockerel? I parted the feathers on his back and do see some pointy shiny ones coming in so Im pretty sure but would...
I was out of town for a few weeks and one of my "pullets" turned into a cockerel! So disappointed, I thought I would be safe buying at 12 weeks but I guess crested are sneaky. Anyone want him? He is very handsome.
Here are some babies from this cross. All hatched out white or blue barred. Some crested (I thought all would be since mom and dad both were ??) I have 11 chicks growing out, and LOTS look to be cockerels, yikes!!!
I have 11 frizzled growing out from 3-5 weeks. Seeing a whole LOT of cockerels in the bunch though! I know frizzle isn't sex linked but dang, I looked it up today just to be sure! There's got to be at least one or two pullets in the bunch right?!?!
Thanks Donna! I just rechecked the dates and they are actually 9 weeks. Yeah they are the biggest and fluffiest wyandotte chicks Ive ever had, usually mine grow out so slow! I got these chicks from cjwalden.
