    If this one dies also I'm sending it in to the state (NC). My family raises meat birds. Over 100,000 every 3-4 months. I have had chickens for 33 years. I've never seen this. You can only treat a chick or chicken for so many illnesses. I don't see a match with what I know when it come to chickens.

    That brooder in the pic is actually a foldable shipping crate sold by Uline. I think that's the name of the company. It folds down to about 2 1/2 inches thick. Pallet collars is what it's called. Sold by uline.

    Shelf liner is in! We washed it and let it dry while I took the pics. I have a larger brooder in the barn that has a covered top that they will go in to with in a week. That is if we have any left. Half are sold already.

    I use clay soil here in NC to repair and fix drainage areas. It packs solid and works great. After the clay is packed tight you can add sand. In north Carolina all we have is red clay as soil so its easy for us. Not sure if you have good red clay available tho.

    It's 100% fine damp. The bottom may never dry depending on your climate. The top will stay plenty dry enough.

    It sounds like you may have a drainage problem around your home. Sand will not help or hurt that but I would fix the drainage problem if its entering your basement.

    Not sure Scott. I'm guessing if you didn't dredge the ocean for sand it may be OK.I don't think I'd use sand at the shore line. But for all I know it may be fine.

    It will be a bit dusty and I'm sure river sand would be better for their lungs. However I have used play sand in brooders and it is much more fine and dustier. If you can get river sand, get it. Dust from sand if inhaled everyday will kill you. I'm sure it's not good for chickens. Get the...

    R2 is right on. Your idea of putting chicken eggs in later is fine. We have had guinea eggs hatch at day 25 all the up to day 32. I'm sure others have had more or less days. Humidity is a bit higher for guineas. I start my lock down around day 22. It really depends on how long your incubator...
