What should I know about Silkes?

Title says it all.. I was thinking about ordering some Silkes along with more hens soon (more chickens, right?) Anyway, should I know anything specific about their personalities, care to keep their feathers nice, egg laying, etc.? Thank you in advance! (:

what can i plant in the chicken yard???

See, I'm having the same issue. I have the same amount and my hens just eat and run down everything I plant in the run! I haven't found a permanent solution for it yet but when I cut the grass I spread it out in there so they have grass until next time. Good luck with your flock!

    New to Chickens

Hello and ! The best birds for a really hot climate will be the Leghorn types with smaller bodies, less-fluffy feathering, and larger combs. Good luck (:

My 3 week old chick seems impacted/constipated with wood pulp

I never experienced this with my chicks the very first time we got them, we used that same bedding too. After I got my second batch of chicks we started using newspaper and as they got older we'd use straw. I know you're not supposed to use that bedding for chickens because they will often eat...

Review by '' on item 'Australorp'

My favorite breed in the flock! They are great around kids and a lot of people, harmless, and act like little lap dogs. I absolutely adore my Australorp hens.
