We have always had our turkeys with our chickens. But I can tell you that the turkeys usually nest outside in the pen while the chickens are in the coop at night. They eat together and the turkeys fly out of the pen during the day to free range all day. No problems at our house.
Ours knock you down when we open the coop door at 6:30am and refuse to return to the roost until dark which is around 8:30pm these days. We keep them in the coop/run all day and let them out at about 5pm to free roam.
We have to have feed out and ready when we open the door or else we hear all...
I just asked around the office and word of mouth gave me way too many buyers. I now have a waiting list for eggs, some have been on it years, just in case I have an extra dozen. I have 5 regular customers.
Good luck, it's fun to share your eggs!
We let the girls out after work when we get home. Open the gate and out they run, they put themselves up at night, we just have to shut the door They are out approximately 2.5 hours and seem happy. They do have a very large outdoor pen to relax in during the day.
We have leaned plywood against the front of our rabbit hutch to keep strong rain and the hot sun out.
Pretty hutch, how many chicks are you housing?

Our sugar snap peas and radishes are done and were yummy! Zuchinni, yellow squash, bush beans and cukes are coming out our ears. Tomatoes are doing good and should be ready real soon. Corn looks good, but we use this for decoration in the fall. Pumpkin vines are up and looking good, hoping...
We raise our dogs with our chickens and have had no problems. We have a mutt/lab, a yorkie and a beagle. The mutt is a gentle giant and has been with us 10 years and has no interest in the chickens. The yorkie we got as a puppy two years ago and we had to work with her in the beginning; total...
Thank you for all your replys. I didn't know about the corn and the heat and all. I'm gonna try just lay pellets and a little scratch.
We do feed lots of kitchen scraps, egg shells, and free range time almost every day.
I don't know if my girls are going to molt, they are young about 11...
I was just reading a post and some said that they don't feed scratch.
I feed scratch, whole corn, lay pellets every day, is this not what I should be feeding? We aren't getting very many eggs and I was wondering if it was the corn?
What do you feed?

We move our hens to rabbit hutches so they have a run with food and water and room to stretch and a closed in side to set on the eggs. We keep the door closed, cause others will go in there and bother her or push her off the nest.
We move them any time of the day, but only after they are...
We've had turkeys for years and yes they can be stupid. The young take about 2 years to 'grow up', but the adults seemed to take care of themselves. We have one male and one hen, she will set on her eggs and hatch them, but then something always gets them so they don't grow up. I took some...
Hi Lori and all,
I think there's 16 total. They are silkie mixed, I can't wait to see their fuzzy little bodies.
Bad news...the two that hatched yesterday died, one in the egg partially pipped and the other had come out of the shell and died. We think it might have been the drafts across...
Hi,
The eggs I received from Jaynie are hatching! I have one almost out and two others that are pipped. It's hard not to open the incubator these last few days, but I'm being good and hopefully have a good hatch. 12 eggs left and today is day 21.

I've order from McMurray 4 times and have had no problems. All the hens were hens and all the chicks survived. We usually received them shortly after 24 hours of them being hatched. We were surprised to see that stamped on the box, hatched 5:45 am friday and arrived at PO saturday morning...
Hello All,
I too have just last night set eggs from Jaynie. I put in 16 silkies/sizzles. I'm excited to hatch these guys (I mean gals) cause I don't have any of these kinds of chickens. I have approximatley 35 hens-rhode island reds, black sex links, amerucana (sp?), cochins. I like a...
