My friends chicken has one grey cheek thingy and the other is pink.
She is eating and drinking as normal and well in herself except for this grey area.
They have had problems with red mite but that is now nearly gone.

I have been clipping and wondering how they still got out and like you say in this thread they can still 'jump' but the problem is these birds are part of a nature area in a nursery and need to 'stay in'
Any suggestions on how to get them to stay in - fencing can't be changed due to costs etc...

When you explored... did you see the egg hole I described? If not then it might be worth trying again tomorrow... so place finger into the vent and gently press down and this seems to move the egg hole and this too opens and closes like the vent does and see when it does if there is anything...

as you will see from the picture I have some chicks but I have no idea what breed they are. Now I know they are little and you not in feather, well except for wing tips, but some idea of what they could be would be brilliant.

Well today I put oil on my finger and i pushed gently to the vent and when i was exploring it became obvious there is in fact an area of tissue with an opening and this was pushed out at the time i was exploring. I saw a white object in the opening. I placed my finger in again...
