Hi all!
To all the Mountain Quail enthusiast. I am looking to incubate some mountain quail eggs that I recently bought. Any suggestions on incubation temp and humidity?
Hello!
I usually use Fleming Wazine 17 Turkey, Chicken & Swine Wormer. Never had an issue with it and works pretty well. Doses are on the bottle and are are accordance to flock size/bird size as this water soluble.
This my opinion, but I usually de-worm my entire flock at once and have done...
Hi!
From what I can see it seems you have a female on your hands that is getting her adult feathers. Most female yellow golden pheasants tend to get darker as they get their adult plumage. Is her eye yellowish green or dark brown? I have attached a picture of an adult female
I know what you mean. My father taught me everything I know about raising birds. Now that I'm older I have my own way of taking care of birds that sometimes doesn't coincide with my father's way. What's really important is not whether it's their old way or our different or "new" way, it is that...
No problem at all Chrishw! As you saw I had the same problem. There were days where I was positive it was a male and then there were days where I was positive it was a female! In retrospect this is what makes these quails and the hobby itself so exciting.
Hello,
It seems as if we are in the same boat here! I also just recently started raising mountain quail and have the same questions! I started a thread a couple of weeks ago and got some really great responses. Here is the link I hope it helps you and feel free to add your questions and...
Hello again everyone,
My mountain quail is almost completely feathered out and I managed to take some somewhat decent pictures of the back of its neck. From what I can tell it looks like a female. Ntsees what do you think? All other suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for all the information! I will definitely look for these characteristics when the quail gets older! I have noticed that the feathers directly behind its head plume and the ones running down the back of its neck are all most completely brown I will try to post some pictures and...
Thank you Ntsees! Yeah I think time will tell what I have! Is there any signs besides the color of the back of the neck that can help with sexing? It is a feisty one at times, but the majority time it's a tame and curious quail that loves treats right out of my hand! Also thank you for the...
Thanks Pennae! I heard that both sexes of these quail have similar calls, but that information might be wrong. I just wondered if this particular call was specific to males.
Hello everyone,
I need help sexing my mountain quail!! The quail is 3 almost 4 months old. It does this call once in a while (as demonstrated in the video). I'm thinking because of this call it is a male! Please help!! Thanks!!
Thank you everyone!! All where great suggestions!! I think I will go with the zip ties since I don't have many birds at this moment. Hopefully in the future I will! Thanks again!!
