Will Turkeys sit and hatch their eggs?

Great. This helped me also. My Lucille Butterball had played about 10 eggs and wasn't sitting on them. Now I know to be a little patient. Such interesting birds. Thanks everyone.

Can I put my chicks out during the day?

I just got some chicks to add to my flock yesterday. Two of them are just barely feathered out (pictured). I live in Denver and I was worried because it got down to 41 last night but I made an executive decision to leave them out in my quarantine coop last night. All six of them were just fine...

Feather loss around eyes and irritation. Please help.

I ruled out mites. At my feed store they said it may be an eye worm since it seemed to only be effecting one hen. I treated her for it but feather loss kept progressing down her neck. I'm pretty sure its lice even though I have not seen any. I started using DE yesterday and thoroughly cleaned...

Is an ex- battery hen worth the trouble?

Emzyyy. I found my exbats on CL. Look for "Laying Hens" for a very low price. I'd give you mine if you can pick them up in Denver.

Is an ex- battery hen worth the trouble?

I just had some ex-bats drop in my lap. I'm still in week one but they are eating just fine with cut beaks. Some of the beaks have oddly grown back with age and that is really not a problem in my case. The fear I have is that they won't lay. The good news is within the first week, they have...

I agree. I really hope the market takes off. Last weekend I stopped by and there was nothing going on.

EEs are the best. In my opinion one of the most beautiful chickens in the world.

    Production Reds and having issues.

She was close to death the next morning when I checked on her and I had to cull. The other hens however, are doing great. They are foraging, roosting and are getting more and more active. Thanks for checking back in with me. I also contacted Johnn to see if he had any other advice.

hen losing feathers around face and neck

Thanks Nova. I'll just keep an eye on her. It doesn't seem to be getting worse and her behavior is still the same as always. Thanks!

Brought home some stinky battery hens.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. No, they are not my first hens and they are quarantined away from my flock. Their weight is low and they are production reds. I took a guy up on some chickens on craigslist and got 6 of them but one has already been quarantined and culled due to illness. The guy said...

Brought home some stinky battery hens.

Hi all. Along with a host of other problems, these girls smell like a pig pen. I saw some posts on deoderizing a chicken run with BA and lime, no idea what BA is. I'm also sure its more of a hen problem than the run. Since they are battery hens they don't know how to be chickens and are not...
