I hatched one of two Am Buff eggs on my very first try, and am very pleased with that. Have 5 more due Monday, so I hope that goes as well. Here is the new baby....I'm a proud Mama! I LOVE baby geese!!!
I just have to brag a bit...Just hatched my very first gosling ever Tuesday. Set the first two eggs, and one hatched, but the other quit about half way through. So, here is my first Am Buff gosling
Thank you RURU. This is my first attempt at geese, and I have a dozen eggs in the incubators, which are fertile, but I'd like to let the girls raise a clutch each. Just debating at what point I should let them keep their eggs. They are Am Buffs and are first year geese with older ganders...
OK, I have a question. If you take the eggs away from the geese when they are due to hatch, will that goose then lay another clutch or will she just quit for the year?
I have a trio of Large Fowl Red Pyle Modern Game. I've got about a dozen chicks so far this year from them. I also have a pair of Bantams. A splash rooster with a blue pullet. Like everyone else who has them, I just love their personalities. I'll have to get some pics taken so I can post them.
We just butchered two weighing a total of 400 lbs. BIG Potbellies! There is an enormous amount of fat on them. We ground them for sausage, kept the ribs, and made our own bacon from them. The meat is fine, but if I was going to feed out a pig to butcher, I would make it a feeder pig, not a...

If your ducks are this year's birds, they probably won't start laying till around Feb or March. When you pick them up, if they give loud "quacks", they are girls, and if they have a weak kind of whispery voice, they are boys. Also, if they are old enough to lay, you can tell by their tails...

I switch mine when they are old enough to go outside, which is usually about 4 weeks. Bantam ducks a little longer. With them it's whenever I figure they're big enough to eat the pellets.
I run mixed age ducklings all the time, but I think the key to doing so is to make sure they have plenty of room. As long as they can get away from each other I have no problems at all. Right now my young duck pen consists of East Indies, Runners, Harlequins, Calls, Saxony, and Muscovy, which...

I don't find ducks at all hard to sell, but I go to lots of swaps, and sell tons of them there. If I were you, I'd call around to anyone who has poultry, and see if you can't find out about the swap. Then go, and price them to sell...walk around and ask price on any ducks you see, then price...
