Has my muscovy gone missing or brooding?

Marking 35 days on my calendar in the event she is brooding. I think its more likely the hawk took her but we will see. Is 10 months about the right time for them to start brooding. I've never seen them mating anytime but a little in the summer.

Has my muscovy gone missing or brooding?

I am in central/southern Illinois. A lady not very far from here has a hen sitting on 7 eggs. I plan on buying some of those if they hatch :)

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

My two buff and white runner ducks, males, who live with their "mom" an older pekin. I've never seen them try to mate with her. Is that normal? She hasn't laid on any regular basis for about a year. My boys are very flighty and loud. I'm getting more this year, other colors!

Has my muscovy gone missing or brooding?

I have a male and female muscovy ducks that are about 10 months old. They have been free range around my farm since they can fly. About one week ago, my female was just gone. The male is still around in his usual places and seems very lonely. Is it possible she just went somewhere to brood...

    Mink? Raccoon?

Now that I think of it, there may be some larger areas a coon cold squeeze through but why would it not try to take the carcass back the way it came in instead of through that tiny 2x4 inch hole? I feel like it is the same predator doing all the killing. I live in the middle of the prairie...

    Mink? Raccoon?

My coop is full enclosed with 2x4 inch welded wire on the inside and out, with poultry netting on the bottom four feet or so. There are some places inside and out on the ground level where the netting is rusted away. The inside is an enclosed corner of our lean-to which has concrete floor. I...

Bantam roosters fighting/crowing at 6 weeks?

The tractor is in a fully enclosed shed right now, I needed a way to integrate the new chickens and wanted a chicken tractor so we killed two birds with one stone. I guess I could use the tractor as a permanent home for any problem chickens but would prefer to keep them all together. I...

Bantam roosters fighting/crowing at 6 weeks?

I have a set of 14 straight run bantams. In the last week, a barred cochin and a golden laced cochin have started crowing and fighting. Last year I had 3 bantams mixed in with my standards, two turned out to be roosters, but I also had like 7/20 of the standards turn out to be roosters. Last...

    How to tame new chicks?

I currently have 12 standard chickens and 3 bantams that I got from a local ag store last March. Only two are friendly enough they will allow me to pet them, both are trained to fly to my arm, an Ameracauna hen "Falcon" and a Old English Game red rooster bantam "Little Beau Peep." I have 34...

Black Australorps or Jersey Black Giants?

Not yet. I will need my husband's assistance for that. He enjoys wrangling ("taming") the flighty chickens.

Black Australorps or Jersey Black Giants?

I took some decent photos of one of the two roosters. I'll try to get some photos of the hens soon.

    White eggs?

Could be one of the buff orphingtons. Definitely wasn't the the Ameraucana, as she also laid that day.

Black Australorps or Jersey Black Giants?

All the black hens are pretty flighty, but I can put on a jacket and gloves and pick them up to check the bottoms of their feet (so I'm not afraid of them pecking me). Thankfully, I'm confident on the two roosters, because they are BIG and I got a disciplinary peck on the finger by the larger...

    White eggs?

I just talked to my sister and she says she gets white eggs from her Plymouth Rocks. I don't currently have any broody hens so that can probably be ruled out.

    White eggs?

I've been getting eggs from my chickens born in March since August. I'd only ever gotten medium brown eggs/some a little lighter brown until my one Ameracauna hen started laying a few weeks ago. I normally do the chicken chores so I see first hand what eggs I got from which box, etc. However...
