Getting rid of flies in and around the run.

Will the chickens be harmed if they eat the DE? We use it for flea control on the dogs and I heard that it's good for worming them. So, can I assume it's safe for the chickens to peck at?

Water Belly or Ovarian Cyst? AND Internal Layer? GRAPHIC PICS

Thank you for the explanation and the pictures. I know that it was difficult. I currently have a hen that seems to have the same issue. I have penned her away from the others as they were pecking her and caused quite a gash in her back. I'm praying that she will survive. We call her Miracle...

    Sudden egg stopage

My 15 hens were laying 9-12 eggs a day for over a week not I get 3-5 eggs a day. It was a sudden drop - one day lots of eggs, the next day 3. Letting the hens hatch the eggs

I have 3 hens that seem to sit on the eggs most of the day. Since we have been gathering the eggs up until now I may be assuming that these ladies will sit. I had read that they won't stay on the nest until there is around 25+ eggs. One thing is for sure, they do not like me to mess when them...

Letting the hens hatch the eggs

We came back from a week's vacation to find 51 eggs from our 16 chickens. I have 3 hens that love to sit so I decided to let them sit on the eggs. I've marked all the eggs so that we can collect fresh eggs. I have lots of questions! 1. How soon will they begin to stay on the eggs (there's about...
